It might not necessarily be a bad thing. Have you seen that video about the costs of an education? What is an education really worth these days, when everyone seems to have one (since the government will give loans to anyone who asks for them, which just further drives up the price, anyway)?
In some cases it is necessary. If one wants to be a doctor or a lawyer, for example -- in this country you need the degree to get the license. But a lot of the degrees out there (like my B.A. in Spanish, for example) are just not worth it.
I spoke Spanish fluently from living in Spain. I paid $25K for a piece of paper telling me that a University has certified that I have studied it (it can't even certify that I speak the language!). Honestly, it was the biggest waste of money I can think of; and I will be paying for it for a long, long time.
We decided that Dustin wasn't going to finish his degree, either, since the things he enjoys and wants to learn do not require a degree (at least for now; until the government adds more red tape, anyway). I suggest doing the same. It will save you a lot of money. Don't buy into the lie that I did -- that somehow having a degree equates with success.
Because these days, it often only equates with resounding debt.
